Daniel D. Ryan, Founder and Partner
Dan’s practice as an attorney and registered patent lawyer spans twenty-eight continuous years. Dan has spent several years as in-house patent counsel for a Fortune 500 health care company. Dan has also been active in the private practice of law, specializing in patent law, including the founding and management of Ryan Kromholz & Manion with his partners.
Dan’s practice -- both corporate and private – has encompassed all the diverse and challenging aspects of patent law, including the creation and organization of patent strategies for his clients; the prosecution and procurement of patents for his clients in patent offices in the United States and throughout the world; the drafting of patent and other intellectual property right agreements; and the enforcement of patent rights for his clients in patent litigation, both in the United States and Europe. Dan has been asked to offer expert testimony in these matters in litigation and arbitration proceedings.
Since the late 1980’s, Dan’s practice has grown to be very active in the representation of small, medium, and large companies engaged in the development of new health care technologies in diverse medical disciplines, including orthopedics, intravascular and cardiac care, treatment of gastro-intestinal dysfunctions, the processing and treatment of blood and blood components, neuromodulation and stimulation, and the treatment of breathing disorders. Dan’s activities in these areas include conducting patent due diligence investigations for venture capital groups, as well as the representation of venture-capital funded medical products companies in patent and intellectual property matters across the country. Dan’s clients include several companies in the medical field that have grown from “start-up” status into successful, publicly traded corporations, selling patented products that have made a difference in the quality of people’s lives.
Dan has written and prosecuted several hundred United States Patents, and those that have been asserted in court have withstood the test of litigation. Dan has been listed in the “Best Lawyers of American” continuously since 1991.
